History of the
Gospel Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church

The newest church in Elliot Lake was officially opened June 3, 2006. This is a brief history of how this church began.

Pastor Reg Harwood and his wife Sherrie arrived in Elliot Lake February 2006 after purchasing their home.
Pastor Harwood was the assistant to Pastor David Brown of the Sudbury United Pentecostal church.
He and his wife Sherrie were living in the parsonage. The church was growing so rapidly that the Sudbury church needed the parsonage for extra Sunday school rooms.
The Harwood's began looking for new accommodations and left to drive west to the beautiful city of Elliot Lake. They shared their burden with Pastor Brown and came to find out he had the same burden for this area.
The Harwood's arrived in Elliot Lake feeling such a burden for the people of this city, they knew it was the will of God to come here.
Pastor Harwood and his wife purchased a home and noticed there was a church building for sale at 283 Mississauga Avenue which was formally the Bible Chapel.
With the help of the United Pentecostal church they purchased the building in June 2006.
Since the purchase of the church we have established many areas such as Sunday morning and evening services plus children's church, Tuesday evening Bible study and Thursday Prayer service. Also men and ladies breakfast gatherings. We have recently made our assembly wheel chair accessible to our main auditorium so that all can attend services, no one excluded.
The Gospel light house is indeed a community minded church, prepared to offer assistance in any capacity we are able to.

Our daughter Angela Harwood recently joined us in Elliot Lake. Angela has Graduated with honors and received a bachelors degree from A.B.I Bible College of Saint Paul Minesota,USA.
Angela has a burden for the youth of Elliot Lake.
Recently at our church dedication Rick Hamilton the Mayor of our city welcomed the Gospel lighthouse to Elliot Lake. He also invited Angela to join in the youth council team.
The Gospel lighthouse is interested in helping the elderly, younger families, and the youth of our beautiful city.

We are offering a variety of "Free Home" Bible study as well as other Bible studies, with a certificate upon completion.
Pastor Harwood and his wife Sherrie are certified councilors through the Life and Focus Education INC. The church offers counseling in Anger management and Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation.

The Gospel Lighthouse is a bible believing church who preaches the apostolic message. We don't teach nor believe in any man made doctrine that cannot be found in the bible.

The Gospel Lighthouse is cordially welcoming everyone who would like to belong to a loving church family. Where Love is present "Miracles Happen"!
